Deputies can also be called upon to assist other Sheriffs in other counties during emergencies.In Geauga County, the Sheriff’s Office is the largest law enforcement agency in the county.I thank you for the opportunity to serve the residents of Geauga County as your Sheriff.It is the mission of the Geauga County Sheriff's Office to serve the Courts and the people of Geauga County in the most efficient and equitable way possible, providing, where appropriate, Law Enforcement, Corrections (Jail), Communications, Records, Investigations, and Process.The Dispatch Center handles nearly 8,000 incoming phone calls per month Third is to serve the courts by providing security, delivering writs or papers of the court, and the service of warrants.Deputies handle prisoner transports to and from penal institutions, serve arrest warrants throughout the United States and perform court ordered sales of property.He is responsible for security, housing and care for the inmates awaiting trial or serving a jail sentence imposed by the Courts.Geauga County has a new 182 bed facility with state of the art security systems. The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office dispatches or handles radio and telephone duties for eleven law enforcement agencies and thirteen fire and rescue companies.
The Sheriff performs many tasks that are unique and not performed by other law enforcement agencies.

Building, maintaining, attending, or using any fire or campfire, except a fire within a permanent constructed fire grate in a developed campground. Persons with a VALID WRITTEN PERMIT from the Lincoln County Sheriff and Fire Chief that specifically authorizes the otherwise prohibited act. Any federal, state, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty. Any fires contained within a liquid fuel or gas stove, fireplaces within buildings, and charcoal or propane grill fires at private residences. The burning of household trash when contained within a fireproof container sufficiently maintained to prevent escaping flame or burning material from the bottom or sides and screened sufficiently on top to prevent the release of burning material and located in the center of an area at least ten feet (10’) in diameter from which all flammable material has been removed.
Percy Wise, who has lived at the campground for about five weeks, said, "We have 43 families that are going to be out on the street. Some that are elderly that have no family anymore." Many of the people have lived on the campground in Mount Joy Township, Lancaster County, for years with their families.
Nathan Lavoie, who has lived there for two years, said, "I have three kids.The final responsibility is to provide law enforcement services in the County.
